ASSIGNMENT:
SOUTH AFRICA

At the beginning of June, 2000, I was contacted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to travel with All-Star linebacker Derrick Brooks (55), Coach Tony Dungy, and 20 inner city children from the Boys and Girls club of Tampa Bay (along with 14 chaperons) to South Africa on an educational trip. The "students" have been studying about South Africa for the past few months and were ready to explore the country. I, along with a professional writer and T.V. camera man were to document the trip, transmit images back to the states on a daily basis for local newspapers and websites, and create a follow up of CDs and print albums after the trip. The entire trip was documented using Digital camera's and a variety of Canon glass. Armed with two cases of camera and computer equipment we were off to the task. The trip left on June 23, 2000 and returned July 5, 2000. In the 12 day period, approximately 5000 digital images were shot. Each night after the daily edit, a CD was burned (for archival purposes), images transmitted back to the states (that is a story all by itself), and preparation for the next day of shooting.

The following images have been edited from the two week shoot. Enjoy!
